Whiskey & War Stories
This was our 4th installment of our themed event called Whiskey & War Stories. It was held at the beautiful Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch. Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while mingling and bidding on the fabulous silent auction items. The Marine Corps Color Guard posted Colors and then dinner was served!
This year our featured guest speakers were Army Rangers who participated in Operation Urgent Fury and did combat jumps onto Grenada – 25 October, 1983.
Retired Master Sergeant Jose Gordon, Retired Master Sergeant Howard “Max” Mullen Jr. and Retired Sergeant Major Brendan “Duke” Durkan. The guys kept us spell bound throughout their time up on stage. We learned things that night that most did not know about such as the conditions of the islands’ environment to the enemy(s) they were fighting. They also had us laughing, but at the end of the night we were reminded of the personal loss of good men on that operation.
Our moderator again was Retired Navy SEAL Senior Chief Dave Hall. Dave has joined our Board and is now the President!
We raised almost $90,000 this night. If you were there, thank you. If you were a sponsor, we will be good stewards with your money.
We look forward to seeing you next year. We will be back at the Scottsdale Resort. Stay tuned for more information about that event.
